Thumb Spree believes that game reviews are inherently subjective and thus employs a qualitative ratings scale.
An avoid rating denotes a game that is not worth anyone's time or money. Poor or short-sighted game design, high price and low replayability are a few probably causes for this rating.
A try rating denotes a game worth trying, in spite of its flaws. Often these games will be of value to some, and disliked by others. Thumb Spree recommends downloading the lite version of this game, when available.
A buy rating denotes a game worthy of purchase. The reviewer has found the game to be a value for its cost, regardless of genre or size. Games with this rating generally serve to further legitimize the iPhone as a gaming platform.
A rating affixed with a blue ribbon comes highly recommended by the Thumb Spree staff. Leading innovation on the device, the ribbon can also signify outstanding game design, art direction and extreme addictiveness. In other words, you'd have to be silly to pass up on one of these stand-out titles.
